Speaker Bio
Judith Scheman is director of Behavioral Medicine with Cleveland Clinic’s Digestive Disease and Surgery Institute. Prior to that role, she was the director of psychology, research and education and director of the Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Program, and held a joint appointment in the Center for Spine Health. She is a clinical professor of medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of the Case Western Reserve University. She is also a member of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, where she is the first non-MD to hold a position on the board, and is the founding co-chair of the Pain Psychology task force.

In her current practice, she sees patients prior to their surgery and patients with swallowing disorders. She is also part of an interdisciplinary gastroparesis clinic. She received her Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Washington, and a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy from Kent State University in clinical psychology and behavioral medicine.
